This class serves to measure the ability of the horse to be functional and a pleasure to ride. This horse should be well-broke, relaxed, quiet, soft of cadence at all gaits and be willing to transition from one western stock horse task to another. These videos discuss a 1-10 scoring system, and since the videos were created, SHTX has moved to a 70 scoring system.

Trail
The trail class is designed to test the horse's ability to cope with situations one would encounter while riding. The horse is ridden through a pattern of obstacles which should nearly approximate those found during the course of everyday ranch work. These videos discuss a 1-10 scoring system, and since the videos were created, SHTX has moved to a 70 scoring system.

Open/NP/LNP/Junior Reining
This class measures the ability of the western stock horse to perform many basic handling maneuvers. SHTX has five recognized open / NP / LNP / Junior reining patterns. These videos discuss a 1-10 scoring system, and since the videos were created, SHTX has moved to a 70 scoring system.
